THE FOUNDING OF SATYRIA

Lore Image 1

Satyria is a continent alone in the Sea of Umi. It was originally a place where the borders between the Feywild and Material realm were so thin, you never truly knew where you were. Thousands of years ago, a large group of High Elves from the far-off continent of Ropeiren arrived by boat at what is now called Anor's Post. They were welcomed by the Satyr King on one condition agreed to by the Elven Lord, which has remained a mystery. Previously nameless, they named the continent Satyria in the King's honor.

They established their kingdom at the top of the mountain at the center of Satyria, creating a magical portal that connected to the other continents. They positioned themselves as the center of commerce for all the lands.

As more people flocked to Satyria, the use of magical portals increased. However, they started creating "Scars" on the fabric of the plane, disrupting the naturally thin veil between the planes. As the scars began to thicken, the fey presence diminished, ultimately ending with the death of the Satyr King. Shortly after his death, the portals ceased to function, leaving the continent cut off.

THE SUNFALL

Lore Image 3

While the continent was initially under the rule of just the Elven Lord of the Mountain, new regions and kingdoms were eventually established, each declaring their independence.

To the east was the Kingdom of the Sun, with its capital in the city of Sunclaw. Their culture and beliefs centered around the sun, agriculture, and the ancient Gods that led to the creation of the universe. One day, something from above, described by witnesses as a piece of the sun, crashed into the ground, creating a momentary lake of lava. The splash immediately hardened into a mountain. The ore and material mined from the mountain maintained higher temperatures, allowing it to be tempered to a stronger hardness than most metals. This established a new city named The Sunfall, creating a disruption in the balance of power in the region. The Kingdom of the Sun then broke up into what is referred to today as The Eastern Kingdoms.

The kingdoms of The Sunfall, Anhana, Midhaul, Falconspike, The Green Sea, Qogi, and Sunclaw were established.

After various wars and conflicts, including the quarantine and mysterious destruction of Sunclaw, The Sunfall became the capital of the Kingdom. The Sun King granted ownership of the Southern Mines to his head general, Jareth Bloodskin. Jareth became known as The Shadow Lord because the city sat in the shadows of the mountain and never saw direct sunlight. He was known as a cruel lord who worked his people to death in the mines under the mountain, mining for a key ingredient used in the forging of Sunfall equipment. He received shipments of gold for his loyalty that never made their way to his people.

THE RISE AND RETREAT OF THE SHADOW LORD

Lore Image 5

One day, the shipments to The Sunfall stopped. Any attempts to contact them magically were unsuccessful, and any physical expeditions ended with corpses being returned, if there were any at all.

Many attacks on kingdom caravans, ships, and other supply chain disruptions were attributed to The Shadow Lord, leading many to fear him, and many adventurers to try to end his hold on the kingdoms goods. It was rumored that The Shadow Lord had found a way to become immortal, with those who claimed to have met him saying that he looked the same throughout the generations. While his body remained young, some said that the scars on his body did not heal or bleed.

Lore Image 6

Without warning, The Shadow Lord assembled an army and started marching north through the Eastern Kingdoms, claiming cities and killing those who stood to stop him. When they arrived at The Sunfall for the final battle, several heroes stood with The Sunfall and stopped his advance, causing him to retreat back to the mountains. His campaign of fear and disruption of goods continued, but he no longer attempted to take over the kingdom.

THE MYSTERIOUS DISAPPEARANCE OF THE HEROES OF THE SUNFALL

The Heroes of The Sunfall did not often talk of their famous battle, but they did much to help the people of the Eastern Kingdoms. They went where they were needed, either separately or in groups if required, and built names for themselves as true leaders. Many whispered about the heroes becoming lords in their own right. However, one day they suddenly disappeared. Those who knew them mentioned that they were finally going to finish the job against The Shadow Lord, but when nobody returned, they were assumed defeated or trapped.

THE FALL OF THE SUNFALL

Lore Image 8

Without the heroes, and confidence being lost in the kingdom without being able to continue forging quality equipment without the material from the Southern Mountains, rebellions began against The Sunfall. As a final measure, the King of The Sunfall released a menagerie of creatures that were kept in secret under The Sunfall Mountain, which turned the city to ruins as people fled. To this day, the vaults of The Sunfall are locked with all its treasures, the key being held by the rightful heir.

THE PLANAR WARS

Lore Image 9

The veil between the Material Plane and all other planes of existence in Satyria suddenly became thin again. As armies and creatures from other planes began to terrorize and claim land for themselves, The Shadow Lord once again came north of the Southern Mountains, this time with an army of mysterious beings made of void energy called the Shadowkin.

Lore Image 10

With these beings at his side, he figured out ways to return beings to their own planes and close those portals so they could no longer wreak havoc. All he required was that the various kingdoms swear their allegiance to him, and they would be protected.

With the help of his four generals, known as the Feared Four: Sawyn the Spellsword, Darsica of the Plains, Horzal the Starcrusher, and Baerwin of the Dark, the Eastern Kingdoms and Green Sea were kept safe, as they fortified their borders from other places in Satyria.
